1. The philosopy behind this exercise was to create the best quality, most complete version of the show whilst minimising the audible evidence of patching. Yuri has clearly been heavily enhanced (with a lot of reverb for instance - it sounds a lot more echoey than the tape) so it was clear that I was going to have to tweak the tape before I could patch them together. Since others may want to hear the untweaked version of the tape, I have archived the raw wavs as shn and will make them available to anyone who fancies doing something with them. 2. Compared three versions of Yuri: the original, Tales from the Darkside and Chris' recent remaster. Chose Bring Me The Head which may not be as good quality as the others but sounded closest to the tape, making for more seamless patching. 3. Transferred the tape: - Technics RS-B608R->Soundblaster PC128->Goldwave - Cool Edit Pro: BBE Sonic Maximiser to refresh the sound + Waves TruVerb reverb effect (Yuri has a lot of that on it) + Waves dithering to sharpen up the quiet sounds 4. Patched the missing tracks from Yuri using the enhanced tracks from the tape - Sound Forge: Crossfade or Mix, depending on the splice - The whole thing fits on one CD and it sounded awful having a break in the middle of 7by7, so I spliced it with MoTU and I'm pleased with the result. 5. Split the tracks using GoldWave, burned on Taiyo Yuden CDR using Feurio! Track sources: 1. Gaga - Yuri 2. In The Egg - Yuri 3. Born To Go - tape 4. Down Through The Night- tape 5. Wage War - Yuri 6.
